October is all about celebrating YOU — the incredible Partners who are such an important part of the IDEAL Energy Cooperative network. And what better way to do that than to take a moment to recognize how far we’ve come and get excited about where we’re headed!
To our Partners who believed in IDEAL from the beginning, thank you for taking a chance on us, believing in the vision, and helping build the foundation we stand on today. Your continued support, commitment, and willingness to work alongside our Member-Owners have helped make IDEAL what it is. We’ve seen real growth as more Member-Owners begin doing business with our Partners, discovering new opportunities, and realizing the benefits of being part of this network. That’s exciting to see, and it’s something we can all be proud of!
And to our newer Partners — welcome! We’re thrilled to have you on board and love seeing new connections being made, conversations getting started, and opportunities taking shape. There’s so much potential in this network, and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish together.

FY27 LIHEAP Funds Disbursed by HHS
On October 9, 2026, HHS released $3.63 billion in FY27 LIHEAP funding to states, territories, and tribes, providing the typical 90% upfront allocation to help eligible households afford home heating this winter. Funds were released earlier than usual to support timely distribution ahead of the heating season; view state-by-state funding levels here.

Heating Oil Price Surge: DOE Announces Emergency Reserve Release
The U.S. Department of Energy announced it will release up to 315,000 barrels of heating oil from the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve as prices surge ahead of winter. The release represents about one-third of the reserve’s total supply and is intended to help ease supply shortages and put downward pressure on prices. Heating oil costs have risen sharply due to disruptions in global fuel markets, adding financial pressure for households preparing for the colder months.
The oil will be made available through an exchange program, with deliveries expected to be completed by November 13. Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut are expected to benefit from the release. While the additional supply may provide some short-term relief, it is unlikely to resolve the broader factors driving higher fuel prices. The reserve has rarely been used, and this marks the first time it has been tapped specifically to help lower heating oil costs. Read the full article from the American Action Forum.
